WELCOME TO THE
SILVERMINE TAVERN BED & BREAKFAST
Celebrating 80 years of hospitality 1929 -- 2009
From its creaky
wooden floors and venerable ancestor paintings to its
traditional New England cuisine and antique canopy beds, the
Silvermine Tavern is everything a country inn should
be, warm, friendly, inviting - and brimming with
charm.
You can't build a country inn with character like ours. You
have to give it time. And time - 200 history-making years of
it - is what has made the Silvermine Tavern a place so
special you won't want to leave.
If ever there were a perfect setting, it's here on the banks
of the Silvermine River. Nestled by the waterfall of a
tranquil mill pond, the Tavern serves its guests on of the
most soothing and serene views in Connecticut.

Silvermine Tavern
rooms are furnished with American country antiques, collected by
John Kenneth Byard, a noted advisor to the collections of Deerfield
Village and Henry Ford as well as the proprietor of the renowned
Silvermine Tavern and Antique Galleries from 1929 until 1947. Much
of the art in the guest rooms is original work by Dorothy Randolph
Byard, the proprietor's wife who was an accomplished poet, writer
and artist as well as an artist-member of the Silvermine Guild. The
bathrooms are equipped with comfortable old-time fixtures including
some claw foot tubs. Hooked rugs, candlewick spreads, antique beds
and historic prints make staying in our guest rooms feel like a
visit to another era. Each room has a jar of cracked corn to feed
the always-hungry ducks, a happy-massager for relaxation and is air
conditioned.
We invite you to
stay the night, the weekend or longer in one of our cozy,
romantic guest rooms, each with its own private bath. Use
our ONLINE RESERVATIONS SYSTEM above or call 203-847-4558 to
choose your room and make reservations.
